The International Freedom Coalition (IFC) announces today that the Afghanistan United Front (AUF) has formally joined the coalition as a member organization, following a leadership meeting at AUF headquarters in Virginia attended by IFC co-founders Dr. Charles Jacobs and Dr. Walid Phares.
The AUF brings together leading figures from Afghanistan's pre-Taliban state. The organization is led by General Sami Sadat, the former commander of Afghan special forces, and maintains an active presence both inside Afghanistan and among exiled communities worldwide.
The partnership adds Afghanistan to a coalition whose founding communities span Biafran, Assyrian, Druze, Iranian, Nigerian, Alawite, Kurdish, Sudanese, and South Sudanese backgrounds. IFC was built on the premise that communities targeted by jihadist movements have been left to advocate in isolation, and that their claims carry greater weight when advanced together.

IFC and the AUF will convene a joint strategic summit this fall. Further partnership announcements covering Iran, Syria, and Israel are expected in the coming weeks.
