A LEGACY OF RESISTANCE
About Us
The International Freedom Coalition was founded by Dr. Walid Phares and Dr. Charles Jacobs in 2025 to confront one of the defining civilisational challenges of our time: the advance of jihadist ideology.
Jihadism combines insurgency, political organising, institutional infiltration, and narrative warfare. It is not limited to battlefields, nor to failed states; it operates across classrooms, newsrooms, community organisations, international institutions, and digital platforms. It adapts, recruits, hides, and advances through networks that span continents. IFC was created to expose this reality and to build a broad civilisational response to it.
The coalition brings together communities who have experienced jihadist aggression firsthand: Jews, Christians, Hindus, Yazidis, Nigerians, Iranians, Sudanese, Kurds, and many others, alongside Western citizens who recognise that jihadism is not a distant problem but a global ideological force shaping politics, culture, and security at home.
Our purpose is not theological debate. IFC does not concern itself with questions of doctrine. We focus on jihadism as a political programme: an organised project of expansion that seeks to replace free societies with an authoritarian, theocratic order. Its methods vary, from terror attacks to non-violent infiltration, but its long-term objective remains the same, as documented repeatedly in jihadist conferences, strategy texts, and governing charters.

The West has largely abandoned ideological clarity. Universities, media, and cultural institutions often refuse to name jihadism plainly, creating confusion and vulnerability among citizens. And unfortunately, the communities most targeted by jihadist movements have enormous moral authority but little coordinated infrastructure.
The International Freedom Coalition exists to build that infrastructure: a global, coordinated alliance capable of shaping debate, influencing policy, educating the public, and confronting jihadist ideology wherever it takes root. Our work spans cultural strategy, media engagement, research, community organisation, and partnerships with leaders around the world who share the commitment to resisting the advance of jihadism.
We believe that freedom in the West is a civilisational project which is never complete. It must be taught, defended, and renewed, especially in the face of an ideological movement that seeks its destruction. IFC stands as a rallying point for all who refuse to surrender the principles of liberty to the ambitions of a modern caliphate.

Oceanic Inspiration
Winding veils round their heads, the women walked on deck. They were now moving steadily down the river, passing the dark shapes of ships at anchor, and London was a swarm of lights with a pale yellow canopy drooping above it. There were the lights of the great theatres, the lights of the long streets, lights that indicated huge squares of domestic comfort, lights that hung high in air.
No darkness would ever settle upon those lamps, as no darkness had settled upon them for hundreds of years. It seemed dreadful that the town should blaze for ever in the same spot; dreadful at least to people going away to adventure upon the sea, and beholding it as a circumscribed mound, eternally burnt, eternally scarred. From the deck of the ship the great city appeared a crouched and cowardly figure, a sedentary miser.
